Projects

The fit out of the ground and first floor of an existing Tiger Tiger night club in Glasgow city centre. Re-branded to become a Mansion House, the fit out included the Jewel and Merchants Bar on the ground floor and Groovy Wonderland, Kanaloa, The Glasserie and Lucky Voice on the 1st Floor.

The fit out included the entrance to the basement comedy club. Incorporated in the project was LED technology, upholstered bars, illuminated dance floor, glitter paints, mirrored walls and ceilings, hardwood floors, resin floors, upholstered circular seating booths, lucky voice sound proof karaoke booths, tiki themed bar and many more stylish finishes.

All items of manufactured joinery, including the booth seating and lucky voice booths were produced in our workshop. This contract was a rare occasion where Novus Leisure refurbished all their different concepts within one venue at the same time. All five bars, and the works to the Glasserie were completed in 8 weeks, with the ground floor bars being handed back after 7, again another test of our abilities to deliver a high quality finish in a tight programme timescale. The end product was well received by the entire project team.

All items of manufactured joinery, including the bespoke bar with integral seating and, the perimeter booth and banquet seating were produced in our workshop. This contract was another test of our abilities given an extremely tight deadline, the location of site and associated access issues coupled with an complex construction and a wide variety of speciality finishes but, it was completed on time and well received by the entire project team.

The logistics of this site made it a very difficult project indeed; a completely land locked site in Mayfair which is accessed via a narrow alleyway that is shared by a number of neighbouring retail premises. Add to this the fact that we completely transformed this exclusive brasserie in 6 days (which also incorporated a bank holiday weekend!) and you begin to realise the challenge we faced. The Thompson’s team thoroughly enjoyed tackling every obstacle thrown at us however and, we all took a great deal of personal and professional pride in turning this ‘impossible job’ into a resounding success.

This project consisted of the fitting out of the basement and ground floor of a vacant shell including various enabling works such as below ground drainage, structural alterations and steelwork and, a full screed throughout. Our site operations in terms of noise, working hours and service routes were restricted due to the Royal Bank of Scotland’s occupation of the offices above our unit but, these onerous conditions were considerately managed to maintain a good working relationship and the critical path of our project. In spite of these restrictions the fit out of this 1100m2 space was completed within 15 weeks to the satisfaction of the client and their professional representatives.

10 week project for Wagamama, Restaurants which involved the fit out of a vacant unit within the Union Square shopping centre in Aberdeen. A challenging project given the shopping centre location and that all of neighbouring units were trading at the time of our fit-out but, we managed to take an empty 240m2 unit to a finished restaurant in the time provided including a screeded floor, partition walls, sprinkler system, electrical, plumbing and mechanical installations and, all floor, wall, ceiling and feature finishes. The large walnut rafts and, all of the manufactured furniture including tables, benches and waiter stations, were manufactured and polished within our own in house joinery workshop.
