How does solar work?

Monitoring and Maintenance – After installation, you monitor your system remotely to track performance and usage. Although solar requires little maintenance, you should schedule periodic inspections. You can carry out visual checks yourself, while a qualified electrician handles technical assessments.

Solar Mounting Systems

Trapezoidal or corrugated roofs – These roofs suit on‑roof systems well. Solar panels sit on a framework above the roof line.

Slate or tile roofs – You can install an on‑roof system, but many prefer an in‑roof system for aesthetics. In this case, you remove the slate or tile and replace it with a mounting tray, integrating the panels into the roof.

Flat roofs – You can use a tray or rail system to mount the panels at a shallow angle. Installers typically secure the system with ballast to resist wind loads.

Ground mount systems – You can choose from several options. The most popular uses frames pile‑driven or screw‑driven into the ground with panels installed on top. Alternatively, you can use concrete ballast to secure the system. In most cases, installers place the inverters underneath the panels.
